What should we do about immigration?

The Politico Magazine article by Jose Antonio Vargas describes how President Obama made at speech on November 24 to announce that he decided to use his executive power to give temporary legal status to immigrants. He did this because Congress again blocked his efforts to pass a law for immigrants. In his speech, Obama said, “When members of congress question my authority to make our immigrant system work better I have a simple answer: Pass the law.” President Obama knew that some people angry  and that some would judge him, but he thought that was  the only choice he had after wait for long time for Congress to agree with him to pass a law.  Maybe now the congress can move ahead to pass the law for immigrants.  Congress needs to accept that immigrants are here. They work, they pay tax, and they help to grow the economy. Although Obama’s decision does not provide immigrants with amnesty and is just a temporary solution, many immigrants will be benefit.  They will be able to get  I.D. or a driver licenses and they will be able to legally work.

During the Obama administration time around 1.1 million immigrants were deported. Deporting the immigrants is not the solution, because families are separate. Sometimes children need to stay with a relative or just with one parent that is hard for them. For example three years ego United States Immigration Services sent me back to Mexico to get my Green Card. I left my children here and we were separate for almost four months, I lost my houses and I spent around of $8,000.00.

Some opponents say than when immigrants come to this country, they take jobs from Americans, they commit crimes, and they don’t pay tax. The true is that immigrants have jobs with bad benefits,  crime occurs around the world not just here in this country, and some immigrants have good values because of their culture. Immigrants have to pay for many things, including gas, clothes, new appliance, and property taxes. When immigrants come to this country, they often need to leave their family, and it can cost them a lot of money to cross the border.  Sometimes they need to sell their properties to pay to the human smuggler to help them, and some people die because it is very dangerous.  When immigrants come here it is not easy to adopt the culture, learn the idiom, and start again. They must take many sacrifices when they come to this country, like working long hours instead of spending time with their family.  Some people work two jobs to have enough money to pay their rent, bills, and support their children.

The congress needs to think about all of the immigrants who are maids, gardener, construction workers, and farm laborers.  These people deserve to have the opportunity to be in this country and have freedom, protection and benefits. Since Congress will not pass a law to help to the immigrants who help grow the U.S economy, don’t blame President Obama’s decision. With all this we can see that no system is perfect.

 

 

Poverty in Cancun, Mexico.

Three years ego I went to Cancun, Mexico. When you see at T.V. or in the computer you always see the place beautiful, but that it is just in the places where tourism come. When I was in the hotel I decided to explorer Cancun. The first time I was not sure to do it because I heard from some people that some place are dangerous. I took the bus and did the trip and after almost two hours the bus goes  far of the tourism place. I saw poor people actually young people at the street. Is sad that a place where every year has a lo money you can find children living at the street. I think the government needs to do some rules for people who are owner in some place where they win a lo of money (some owners are foreign,) they need help to the poverty to have better life. With the money they can provided programs to the children after and before school, summer cam where they can learn about personal and social safety, drug awareness, emergency situations, and crime prevention. But not just the children need help, the parents need more money to support their children. They can give better benefits for workers and rise the minimum wage.  It is sad, but this problem is around the world and the  children are the future and some government don't support them.

Does the World Still care About American Culture?

I think in this time the world doesn't care about American culture because with the technology we have right know like internet people can see another cultures. Long time ego American was the number one because his economic was high, people from another countries want come to learn American culture, but most of today's young people grew up in the absence of some important values, young people don't recognize what is good about themselves. Some people are negative about their own culture. Last summer I went to Mexico, I took my children and some nephews to the museum in that place we can see old things about Mexican culture, I was very surprise when they told me that they want to go to another place because they were boring. I stared explain them that culture is very interesting. They probably see the world very differently. I think culture is part of people's lives. Influences their views, their values, their loyalties, we need to have perspective and understand our own culture to understand from other countries, it is good to be flexible  and open to other cultures. We need a flexible mind with witch we can learn about mistakes in our history and turn them into positive lessons. People who are older we need to teach young people the of importance to learn another culture not just American culture. It is sad that young people can have more opportunity to meet another culture using internet, but they are more worry about to pretend to be someone else  or how be popular.
